Nestled in the heart of the Alps, Alto Adige is one of Italy's most distinctive and dynamic wine regions. Situated at the crossroads of Mediterranean and Alpine cultures, this small region combines dramatic mountain landscapes, high-altitude vineyards, and centuries of winemaking tradition to produce wines of remarkable precision, freshness, and character. Despite accounting for less than one percent of Italy's wine production, Alto Adige has earned an international reputation for quality across an impressive range of grape varieties.

This tasting will explore the diversity of Alto Adige through a selection of wines that reflect the region's unique terroirs and cultural heritage. From elegant sparkling wines and vibrant indigenous whites to structured reds and distinctive mountain-grown varieties, guests will discover how altitude, climate, and tradition shape some of Italy's most compelling wines. Alongside internationally recognised grapes, the evening will also highlight native varieties that have been cultivated in the region for generations.

This event holds particular significance for Trivet's Head Sommelier, Sofia Crepaz, who was born and raised in Alto Adige. Growing up amongst the vineyards and mountains of the region has given Sofia a personal connection to its wines, culture, and traditions. Throughout the evening, she will share not only the stories behind the wines but also her own experiences and insights into the people, places, and heritage that make Alto Adige such a unique corner of the wine world. This personal perspective will offer guests a rare opportunity to explore the region through the eyes of someone who calls it home.

Join Isa Bal MS and Sofia Crepaz in the Mustard Room at 19.00 for an evening celebrating the wines of Alto Adige. Throughout the evening, the wines will be accompanied by a menu created by Jonny Lake, inspired by the unique culinary heritage of the region. Shaped by centuries of both Italian and Austrian influence, Alto Adige's cuisine blends Alpine traditions with Mediterranean flavours, creating dishes that are both comforting and refined. The region is renowned for its use of mountain herbs, cured meats, freshwater fish, seasonal vegetables, and orchard fruits, as well as recipes influenced by the historic trade routes that connected northern and southern Europe.
