Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, similar to etched carnelian, created by applying natural dyes to agate and firing to produce unique patterns. It is believed that these beads were made between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, though many aspects, such as the composition of the dyes used, remain a mystery. While primarily found in Tibet, Dzi Beads have also been discovered in regions like Bhutan and Ladakh in the Himalayas. The different patterns created by the firing process are said to hold various meanings, with the round 'eye' design being particularly prized. In Tibet, these beads are considered amulets of wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations as cherished adornments. Recently, they have gained popularity in China under the name 'Tian Zhu,' with numerous replicas made using similar techniques. However, genuine ancient Dzi Beads retain high rarity and value.
