The Frill Sleeve Zero Waste Top is a relaxed, oversized top designed using zero waste pattern cutting. With its curved armhole, softly gathered sleeve head and easy silhouette, it’s a modern everyday piece that works beautifully in lightweight fabrics. The top features side splits with a facing and a boat neckline finished neatly with an internal binding.
This pattern is designed as a relaxed fit and includes three size options. The body size can also be easily adjusted to suit your preference, making it a flexible pattern to work with. Sleeve length will vary depending on the fabric width and size you choose, and the body length can also be adjusted if you prefer a longer or shorter top.
This sewing pattern uses zero waste pattern cutting, where pattern shapes are carefully planned so the full width and length of fabric is used, leaving little or no waste. Instead of traditional paper pattern pieces, you draw the shapes directly onto your fabric using the cutting plans and templates provided.

About Zero Waste Pattern Cutting
Zero waste pattern cutting works a little like a puzzle. Pattern shapes are carefully planned so that the entire piece of fabric is used from edge to edge. Rather than printing large pattern pieces, you mark the shapes directly onto your fabric using the cutting plan and templates provided.
Why we love the zero waste method
More flexibility: Patterns designed within rectangular or square blocks make it easier to adapt for different fabric widths or experiment with simple design changes. It also works well for using leftover fabrics or patchworking remnants.
A great way to learn pattern drafting: Drawing shapes directly onto fabric helps build confidence with pattern drafting and garment construction.
Less fabric and paper waste: With no large pattern pieces to print and minimal fabric offcuts, this method significantly reduces waste.
This pattern is for personal, non-commercial use only.
