The Chevron bead technique was invented by Maria Barovier in Murano, Italy, in the late 1400s. While Venetian bead techniques are derived from ancient methods, Chevron is uniquely Venetian. Up to ten layers have been discovered, predominantly in blue, with red, green, and black being rare. The technique later spread to the Netherlands. The term "Chevron" means "mountain shape," and these beads are also known as Star Beads or Rosetta Beads.
