Etched Carnelian beads originate from the Indus Valley Civilization. The designs were created using a liquid derived from plants called natron, which was then baked onto the carnelian at low temperatures of around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. While these beads have been unearthed from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that they were originally crafted in the Indus River region and transported via land and sea routes.
