A Rare and Very Collectable Rolex Submariner 5513 from October 1965 in Superb Original Condition with Stunning Lume, Sold with Original Box and Paperwork
First introduced in 1953, the Rolex Submariner was designed as a professional diving watch, setting new standards for underwater reliability and legibility. It was among the earliest watches waterproof to 100 metres and quickly became the benchmark for dive watch design. Over the decades, the Submariner evolved subtly, refining its proportions, movements and materials while retaining its core identity. Today, it is regarded as one of the most iconic and influential wristwatches ever produced, prized equally by professionals, collectors and enthusiasts alike.
What's on Offer
This 1965 Rolex Submariner reference 5513 is presented in outstanding vintage condition, with a beautifully preserved matte black “metres first” dial that remains rich in colour and remarkably clean for its age. The oversized hour plots retain attractive, evenly aged luminous material, perfectly matched by the lume in the iconic Mercedes hands, giving the watch exceptional warmth and character.
The aluminium bezel insert has faded to a desirable ghosted tone, while the serrated bezel edge — still sharp and well-defined — speaks to careful wear over the decades. The stainless steel case retains strong proportions and is paired with a stainless steel Oyster bracelet, reference 93150, fitted with an S4 clasp dated 1994. Supplied with its original box and papers, this is a highly appealing example of one of the most sought-after vintage Submariners ever produced.
