This is an idyllic vintage 1980's dress, from iconic British designer Zandra Rhodes...

A luscious mix of lace and trompe l'oeil lace, in striking black and gold -this dress will turn heads! Famed designer, Ms. Rhodes, is known for an edgy take on upscale looks, and this dress is a fine example from her arsenal. It's silhouette is classically 1980's (mid-to-late), with a bustier style fitted bodice and drop waist 'cupcake' flare skirt. The very-structured top features boning and lightly padded cup foundations, with a beautifully semi-asymmetrical layout of the rose-themed lace (this is an astonishing detail that one doesn't necessarily notice right away!). The multi layered skirt has a crinoline net base, thin acetate fabric lining, and silk organza, semi-sheer top skirt featuring hand-stenciled trompe l'oeil (trick of the eye) lace pattern in metallic gold and matte grey-black. We also love the hand-finished scalloped edge lace petals peeking out from the top of the sweetheart bust, as well as where the lower waist meets the skirt. Label reads 'Sandra Rhodes, handmade in England, 50% silk, 7% nylon, 23% Laminette, 20% acetate, size 8 Us/ 10 UK'. Overall condition is excellent or mint with absolutely no flaws to disclose!
