The Omega Seamaster, introduced in 1948, is a cornerstone of luxury diving watches. Initially designed to commemorate Omega's centenary and aimed at active individuals and military personnel, the Seamaster quickly gained acclaim for its robust build and reliability. Early models featured an innovative O-ring gasket that enhanced water resistance, setting a new standard in watchmaking. In 1967 the De Ville dropped “Seamaster” from its name and became a line in its own right. At its launch, the De Ville generated considerable attention due to the fact that it combined OMEGA's already-proven movements with meticulous finish and design.
What's on Offer
A once silver dial has become a unique speckled caramel colour due to a process called topicalization in which watch dials shift in colour over long periods depending on the climate they are exposed to. This watch has been subject to a harsh environment by the looks of things but it sure does have some character. Paired with a nice strap and original Omega pin buckle we think it looks great.
The mid-sized case sits at 31.5mm in diameter, although small it was completely normal size for men during the 1960s. Signs of wear can be found but there is no major damage and could be easily refurbished with a polish.
The mechanical calibre 630 movement is currently running intermittently and most likely needs a service. Due to this, we are selling it as a project piece or possibly a doner for another watch as we believe it has some great potential. These circumstances are reflected in the price.
