Dzi Beads are ancient beads from Tibet, often compared to etched carnelian. They are designed by baking natural dyes onto agate. Believed to be produced between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, the exact composition of the dyes remains a mystery, making these beads enigmatic antiques. While primarily found in Tibet, they are also discovered in Bhutan and the Ladakh region of the Himalayas. Different patterns are believed to hold various meanings, with those featuring round "eye" motifs being particularly prized. In Tibet, Dzi Beads are considered talismans of wealth and prosperity, passed down through generations and cherished as jewelry. Recently, their popularity has surged in China, where they are known as "Tian Zhu" (Heavenly Beads), leading to numerous replicas. However, ancient Dzi Beads remain incredibly rare and valuable.
