Product Description: Mid-1900s Venetian Chevron Beads. These beads are relatively new among chevrons but are admired for their vibrant and colorful beauty, which is not found in older versions.
Note: As these are antique items, they may have scratches, cracks, or chips.
Chevron beads, also known as Star Beads or Rosetta, were invented in the late 1400s by Maria Valovaere on Murano Island, Italy. While Venetian bead techniques often adapt ancient methods, the chevron technique is uniquely Venetian. Chevron beads have been found with up to 10 layers, predominantly in blue, with red, green, and black being rare. The technique later spread to the Netherlands. The term "chevron" refers to the zigzag pattern characteristic of these beads.
