Etched Carnelian beads date back to the Indus Valley Civilization. These beads were created by drawing patterns using a natron solution derived from plants and then baking them at a low temperature of around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. While they have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that these beads were originally made in the Indus River Valley and transported via land and sea routes.
