Originating from the Indus Valley Civilization, these carnelian beads were decorated with patterns using a natron solution derived from plants and then baked at low temperatures of around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. While such beads have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that they were crafted in the Indus River region and transported via land and sea routes.
