Chevron beads are a unique Venetian bead-making technique invented in the late 1400s by Maria Valovere on the island of Murano, Italy. While Venetian beads often adapt ancient techniques, Chevron beads are an original Venetian creation. These beads can have up to 10 layers, with blue being the most common color. Red, green, and black Chevron beads are considered rare. The technique was later adopted in the Netherlands as well. The term "Chevron" refers to the zigzag pattern characteristic of these beads, also known as star beads or rosetta beads.
