I really do love finding great Halstons! Sometimes they just blow me away, take for example this glorious ensemble made of warm, vivid wool jersey.
The dress has the understated elegance of a classic Halston, with sophisticated dolman sleeves, a short zipper at the neck, and that amazing diagonal detail in rich red and brilliant blue. The dress alone is quite special and desirable, but pair it with the matching shawl and you have an amazing look.
The way Halston designed the shawl so the stripes match perfectly with the dress is remarkable. When the point in the back is perfectly centered, the red line on the shawl matches perfectly with the one on the dress. The black end is quite longer than the blue end so when you wear it tossed over the opposite shoulder, the red lines match up again with the dress perfectly. This is such a classic Halston detail... I have never seen anyone else pull it off.
