An Elegant Looking Vintage Nivada Automatic with a 9ct Gold Case and Engine Turned Bezel

In 1926, Nivada began operations in Grenchen under Wüllimann Schneider Nivada S.A. The company utilized reliable movements from ETA SA and Phénix S.A., a common practice of the era, and gained a reputation for producing quality mass-produced watches. Nivada marked its 100th anniversary in 1979, by which time Max Schneider, the founder's son, had taken over the business in 1976.

During the 1960s and 1970s, Nivada was unable to use its name due to its phonetic similarity to Movado. Consequently, their products were branded as "Nivada Grenchen." In the United States, Croton, established in 1878 in Italy and later based in New Jersey, served as a U.S. distributor for Nivada. Many watches were sold under the names "Croton Nivada," "Croton Nivada Grenchen," or simply "Croton," thus avoiding the issue with the Movado name similarity.

The gilt numerals against a gorgeous engine-turned textured dial just look extravagant. In addition to this, golden sword hands suit it perfectly. The interior gold finish matches the shiny 9ct gold case which has been lightly polished.

Various light signs of wear can be seen to the case back and mid case but it is very minor. The watch is running very well and keeping good time at the time of this writing. If you do wish for it to be serviced to get it just that bit better before receiving the watch wed be happy to do that for you for an additional cost.
