Our Point of View

Rooted in Comme des Garçons' tradition of treating text as visual art, this pinafore transforms typography into an immersive all-over inkjet print — dark lettering scattered across a white ground in a rhythm that reads more like abstract mark-making than legible script. The skirt falls in a fluid, gathered silhouette from a softly elasticated waist, while the straps are gathered and ruched into voluminous, knotted flourishes at the shoulders, lending the piece a distinctly sculptural, handcrafted character that is entirely at odds with the conventional pinafore form.
