Known as "Warring States Beads," these glass beads were crafted during the Warring States period of China, from the 5th to the 3rd centuries BCE, before the unification under Qin. The earliest Chinese glass artifacts, excavated from Luoyang in Henan Province, date back to the 11th to 8th centuries BCE, but widespread production and distribution began during the Warring States period. Early Warring States beads often featured ceramic cores adorned with glass patterns, known as faience, but fully glass beads became more common later. Beads with spotted patterns, known as "Seven Star Beads" or "Eye Beads," were prevalent. Despite the influence of Western Asian techniques and designs, the material composition of these Chinese beads differs, highlighting the advanced glass-making skills of ancient China. These beads are not only historically significant but also cherished for their rich designs and colors, attracting many enthusiasts.
