Chevron beads, invented in the late 1400s by Maria Valovier on the island of Murano, Italy, are a unique Venetian bead technique. While Venetian beads typically adapt ancient methods, Chevron beads are an original Venetian invention. Chevron beads have been found with up to 10 layers, most commonly in blue, while red, green, and black variants are rare and highly sought after. The technique later spread to the Netherlands. The name "Chevron" means "V-shaped," and they are also known as star beads or rosetta beads.
