This cardigan was knit by hand, possibly in the 1950s- it is one-of-a-kind, and the unusual and intricate knit pattern speaks to the skill required to make this piece. The cropped silhouette makes it easy to wear it with nothing underneath, but it could certainly also be layered over another piece. It features a crew neck with a round yoke, and cable knit patterns extending radially from the collar. The custom made knit buttons blend right in. No materials are listed, but I assume the yearn is wool.
