Perhaps even more interesting than some of the design details on this blouse, is the name on its label: 'The R.T. Honorable Company of Silk Merchants' (seems to be a play off of 18th century trading companies)

Where to begin? This blouse, made of a soft and medium weight silk, has simplified, round neckline but this is about the only part of this blouse that's simple. The full length sleeves contain a chevron-point gusset at upper sleeve, that graduates into a narrow lower sleeve -but with an inverted pleat! The shoulders also contain a small pleat detail that is then echoed in a top panel that runs down the center front. This panel is embroidered with an Art Deco-style (or Art Nouveau) motif that is also reticulated (cut-out). The center back has a button down closure with small, silk self-covered buttons. This blouse originally had thin shoulder pads sewn in, but these were removed for cleaning and photography purposes. If you would like them put back, please request upon purchase, otherwise the shoulder pads will be sent detached. The only label reads 'The R.T. Honorable Co. of Silk Merchants, size Small, 100% silk, Made in Hong Kong, Dry Clean Only.'
