Yes. Scrape off old gasket material and any carbon buildup, then wipe both surfaces clean with a degreaser. A smooth, clean surface ensures the aluminum gasket seats properly and holds pressure.

Will this gasket work with my existing header bolts?

Gasket thickness is engineered to OEM spec, so your factory header bolts should work. If you're reusing old bolts, inspect them for damage or corrosion first — replace any that show wear.

Can I use gasket sealer or sealant on this?

The aluminum core is designed to seal without additional products. Adding sealant can actually create compression issues. Install dry and torque to manufacturer spec for best results.
