Chevron beads are a unique Venetian bead type, invented in the late 1400s by Maria Valovaire on the island of Murano, Italy. While many Venetian bead-making techniques are derived from ancient methods, the Chevron technique is original to Venice. These beads can feature up to 10 layers, with blue being the most common color, while red, green, and black are considered rare. The name "Chevron" means "V-shaped" and these beads are also known as "Star Beads" or "Rosetta Beads." The technique was later adopted in the Netherlands as well.
