Kemen er Orbea sin nye elektriske hverdagssykkel. Kemen kommer i to rammevarianter, en med høyt innsteg og en med lavt innsteg i rammen. Modellene er designet rundt Shimano sin nye EP-serie med motorer av beste kvalitet og har spesialdesignet batteri som sitter inne i rammen. Modellene har innvendig kabelføring, lys bygget diskret inn i rammen. Her får du en komplett pakke med skjermer, støtte, bagasjebrett, lys, kraftige bremser – alt du måtte ønske i et elegant og lekkert utseende.

Sykkelen har 540wh batteri bygget inn og trenger du enda lenger batterikraft kan du sette på en ekstra batteripakke slik at du når hele 792wh - det er nok for nærmere 140km sykling (i eco-modus)

Modellen leveres med støtte, integrerte lys, nye Shimano Link gate girsystemet spesielt designet for elsykler og mulighet for sykkelvogn.

Thus, the lightest Kemen weighs only 22 kg, which is quite remarkable in view of the robust equipment and the powerful drive! We may have tested the limits of this Kemen but we were always surprised with how it handled even the roughest terrain and made childs play of the smooth pavement it is most suited for. If you’re likely to be seeing a lot of dirt or gravel miles, the bike is a natural contender offering wider tires and ability to carry more weight.

At the heart of each model is an aluminium frame that has been manufactured through Orbea’s hydroforming process and uses triple butted tubing. “The wall thickness is perfected at specific points of the frame to reduce weight and reinforce any areas subject to greater tension,” says the brand.

The integrated battery looks sleek, as does the integrated cable routing at the front end. The display and control cable are routed inside the handlebar, while the brake wiring is routed through a cover on the stem.

All the Kemen models feature Shimano’s Linkglide drivetrains, which Orbea describes as “use-specific drivetrains for this style of bike, where smooth shifting and durable components are prioritised over other factors like the weight or shifting speed of the gears”. 

The heart of the Kemen is Shimano’s powerful mountain-bike-derived EP electric bike motor, with an impressive 85Nm of torque from its mid-mounted 250W motor. Orbea has, however, designed its own cleverly packaged battery rather than using Shimano’s system.

Using a more compact battery-cell configuration means the Kemen has a slender down tube that sets it apart from most other mid-mounted electric bikes. Yet the best bit is its 540Wh capacity.

And, if the potential range of around 100-120km isn’t enough for you, you can buy a 250Wh range-extending, bottle-cage-mounting battery to get more range.
