Marbled endpapers. Foredges red. Signature of first owner inside front free endpaper, dated 1860. Binding sound. Pages age toned but clean, minor foxing to first 4 pages and plates at rear. In good condition. First published in the US in 1855. This the first edition of the revised  and enlarged 8^th edition and the first British edition. Maury is considered as the ‘Father of Oceanography’.
