A long time ago, there was a time when I felt very depressed. I could not feel better even if I soaked in my favorite hot spring or ate my favorite food. I was really troubled. At that time, a friend of mine gave me a CD of "Freddy the Leaf," and the music by Kan Inoue made my heart sing and Hisaya Morishige's narration brought tears to my eyes. When I came to my senses, I felt as if I had been saved and my doubts had been cleared away. It was a great catharsis. Since then, this piece has always been in a corner of my mind, and I have performed it at every opportunity, including introducing it at an elementary school in Higashimatsushima, an area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. And now, this work has been reborn as a new "Freddy the Leaf" with narration by Ryudo Uzaki and additions by Mr. Inoue! I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to play the piano through an unexpected and wonderful connection. I believe that great works of art continue to live on in different forms even as the times change. I am sure that the new Freddie will speak gently to you as you pick up this CD.
