Product Description: This is a strand of Etched Carnelian Beads.
Note: As this is an antique item, there may be scratches, cracks, or chips present.
Era: 2500 BCE to 1800 BCE
The Indus Valley Civilization created these carnelian beads by drawing patterns using natron derived from plants and then firing them at low temperatures of about 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. Though they are also unearthed from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, it is believed that the beads were originally made in the Indus Valley region and then transported overland and by sea.
