Chevron beads are a unique Venetian glass bead technique invented by Maria Barovier on the island of Murano, Italy, in the late 1400s. While Venetian bead-making techniques often draw from ancient methods, Chevron beads are a distinct Venetian innovation. They can have up to 10 layers, with blue being the most common color. Red, green, and black variants are rarer and therefore more valuable. The term "Chevron" means "mountain-shaped" and these beads are also known as star beads or rosetta beads. The technique later spread to the Netherlands as well.
