This is a simple and elegant teacup called Kumidashi, traditionally used for offering Sencha green tea when welcoming guests to a Japanese tea ceremony.
Almost white, yet, this special glaze has an ever so subtle green hue. The minimal design is perfect for enhancing the true colour, texture and flavour of pure green tea. Just like how Japanese green tea offers depth in flavour depending on the season, environment, and how it's prepared, a choice of vessel can also perfeorm widely for an experience.
These particular Kumidashi teacups are produced by Azmaya, made from select Amakusa pottery stone found in the Kumamoto prefecture. Baked in the kiln of Hasami town in Nagasaki prefecture, the artisans are careful not to refine the material too much leaving each cup with a beautiful & smooth texture. The rounded form feels incredibly comfortable in your hand with a superbly curved rim that receives the lips softly.
Enjoy your favourite tea time with a set of Kumidashi teacup and Azmaya Copper Tea Saucer (sold separately).
