Carnelian from the Indus Valley Civilization, etched with patterns using a solution derived from plants called natron, and baked at low temperatures around 300 to 400 degrees Celsius. While these beads have been excavated from sites in Mesopotamia and Afghanistan, they are believed to have been produced in the Indus Valley and transported via land and sea routes.
